Getting Started

Our umpiring convenor’s email is:

To begin your umpiring pathway, you’ll need to:

  1. Register interest for umpiring via this link - this will enable our umpiring convenor to contact and provide you with all

    necessary details.

  2. Register as a member with Netball NSW

  3. Complete the Foundation Umpire Course

  4. Pass the Rules of Netball Theory Exam

Once you’ve finished these steps, please email your certificate to our umpiring convenor:

After passing the theory exam, all first-time umpires in the Hills District Netball Association must attend a pre-season training day. Our umpiring team will contact you with the details and help you get organised. When the competition begins, new umpires are paired with an experienced mentor. This support system ensures you feel confident and well-guided as you develop your skills.

Umpires can choose to wear a white top and bottom, or a white top and black bottoms. This includes any suitable shirt, singlet, dress, shorts, skirt or jacket. We recommend proper netball shoes to be worn, and for umpires to carry the official rulebook and a whistle. .

If you’re already an accredited umpire and would like to join our club, please reach out to our convenor with your current accreditation details.

We can’t wait to have you join our umpiring team!
